 Unix Tip #4200- August 11, 2012

CHMOD THE SYSTEM

Along the lines of:

D O N O T D O T H I S!

Reports from several admins have
been made that dangerous users
who obtain root for the first
time enable full access to the
entire system. They are using
the following command:

# chmod -R 777 /

If you feel you have any
dangerous users, please advice
them of the dangers of executing
such a command.

NOTE: All tips provided are USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Tips are submitted
by various unix admins around the globe. UGU suggest you read and
test each tip in a non-volitile environment before placing into
production.
