FINDING NUM OF DIRECTORIES

Ever had the need to find how
many directories are in a
particular area. The following
command can be used:

$ find /etc -type d -print | wc -l

(using this at the root level "/" can
take a long time, be careful)
 NOTE: All tips provided are USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Tips are submitted
by various unix admins around the globe. UGU suggest you read and
test each tip in a non-volitile environment before placing into
production.
